For the initial craniosacral therapy session, the therapist will take a case history before the treatment to discuss what you are seeking from the session and any past injuries, operations or other experiences that may be relevant.
During the treatment itself, you would lie (or sit if more comfortable) fully-clothed on a treatment couch. The therapist would make contact by placing their hands lightly on your body and tuning in.
The first thing you may notice is a sense of deep relaxation. Some people experience tingling, heat, pulsing and other sensations, though each experience is unique. Some feel momentary discomfort relating to an injury or past trauma but this will pass and the person is often left with a feeling of peace and relaxation.
Many people feel brighter and more energised after a treatment. Some find they need an early night that evening and sleep more deeply. Often the body will continue to work through the changes it has experienced during the days following the treatment.
The number of sessions that people need varies, depending on the person and what is being treated. Some people continue to come every few months after their initial treatments for a “top up” or fine tuning.
Missed appointments are charged at full price, and cancellations within 24hrs of the session are charged at half price.
